As you can tell from last weeks post, I have been loving my smoothies. Especially green ones.
My body has just been craving one massive blast of vegetables and I have been listening to it. Last week I had a smoothie like this instead of fresh juice in the morning and I felt great for it and am doing the same this week. It make getting lots of vegetables in you body easy and is perfect for on the go. So if you feel a bit bloated or ‘sugared out’ after tons of selection boxes then one of these in the morning will have you feeling fighting fit!
Many of you may be weary of anything that has the word ‘detox’ in it . I can understand this as it has become a very fashionable and ‘in’ word but I am a believe that detoxing is not just some faddy, celebrity regime, but actually a natural rythme of our bodies that, when done with the right mindset, can do your body oodles of good. Our bodies are one big detoxing machine and yes we will never match there detoxing prowess but its make sense to me that we have times when we mirror its own activity. Also its great at cleansing your body and after spending a few years doing regular detox’s (2-3 times year) they have become something I actually look forward too (ok, yes I am weird, but detoxing isn’t). Why is this smoothie so fabulous for your body? Let me tell you, it contains:
Spinach – I love this stuff and use tons of it as it contains loads of iron, vitamin A, vitamin C as well as high amounts of potassium, magnesium and zinc.
Avocado – filled with healthy fats, protein and high in most B vitamins and loads of minerals.
Lemon – for a vitamin c boost, balancing bodies PH and flavour
Ginger – great for easing a poor digestion and fight the cold
Cucumber – gives a refreshing taste and helps to soothe Mint – because I have a massive plant of it and it needs using!
Spirulina (optional) – watch this for why
So whip one of these up and feel your body say one big thank you!
- 1/2 Avocado
- 2 handful Spinach
- 1/2 lemon
- 3 Mint Leaves
- 1 tsp Spirulina (optional)
- 1/3 Cucumber
- Knob fresh Ginger
- 800ml filtered Water
- (Optional - 1 banana if you need it to be sweet)
- Place all the ingredient in a blender or jug and then blend until smooth.
- Ideally have this without the banana, for the ultimate 'detox' experience but if you can't bear it them feel free to shove one or two in!
